Nothing's Changed

I heard you dismiss
your musings
within your annual
from when
you were eighteen.

After all,
it was so long ago
and how much stock
should we put
in an annual?

But I have a
different take.

I stand by mine
now more than when
I was eighteen.

"We cannot
change around

Love is what

That was

I'm grateful that 
I knew the truth
so long ago.

I knew the truth 
was not in a bottle.
Or in subjugation.
Or in my privilege 
growing up 
inside the beltway.

I put all my
stock in that today.
